Somalia: Al Shabab Attacks With Mortars On Kismayo Port

Kismayo — Residents say Al shabab fighters launched Sunday night a mortar attack against ships docked the port of Kismayo city, where is largely controlled by Somali and Kenya forces along with the pro-government Raskamboni fighters.

The attack happened late last night as ships reportedly carrying weapons for the Kenyan AMISOM army in Kismayo trying to dock at the harbor, with some reports the attack caused uncounted loss of life and property in the port.

Al shabab quit Kismayo last month following two months of heavy offensives by the allied forces from Somalia and the African Union mission in Somalia known as (AMISOM), without a resistance.

The city, 500 Km south of Mogadishu has witnessed increasing attacks and killings since the pull out of the Al shabab, a group linked with Al Qaeda.
