Gambia/Guinea: Etoile to Face Sabi in Basse Nawettan Final

Etoile De Guinea will face the Serahuleh border village of Sabi in the final of the Basse Nawettan Football Competition sponsored by Banjul Breweries, manufacturer of the Youki drink. The final will be played on Saturday, 10th November, at the Basse Mini-Stadium, in the Upper River Region.

Etoile De Guinea defeated Palleh FC 5-4 in a post-match penalty after a 1-1 drew on Friday, while Sabi narrowly beat Kuteh FC 1-0 on Saturday.

Speaking to this reporter in a telephone interview from Basse ahead of the final, Foday Danjo, chairman of the Basse Sub-Zone Sports Committee, said they are anticipating an interesting and successful final.

He disclosed that the third and fourth place playoff game will be played on Friday between Palleh FC and Kuteh FC at the Basse Mini-Stadium.

"On behalf of the Basse Sub-Zone Sports Committee, I will like to once again thank the Banjul Breweries for sponsoring this tournament and we really appreciate their efforts in developing grassroots football," he added.

He finally called on the general public to come out and watch the game on Saturday, as they are also expecting their sponsors to witness the final.
