Egypt: Nation to Host Organization of Islamic Cooperation Summit in February

Egypt has welcomed hosting the coming summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), which will be held on February 2-7, 2013.

Egypt also expressed its willingness to extend all possible facilities and to cooperate with the OIC secretariat so that the summit would come up with results that satisfy the aspirations of Islamic nation.

This came during the meeting between Vice President Counselor Mahmoud Makki and OIC Secretary General Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu on Tuesday 6/11/2012 who congratulated the Vice President for taking over his post.

The meeting reviewed the OIC history and development, the activities it undertakes in different countries and its participation in international forums.

The meeting touched on the OIC interest in women issues in the Islamic World and its decision to set up an independent human rights organization.

This addresses a clear-cut message to the whole world that Islam is keen to consolidate the rights and freedoms of individuals.

During the meeting, Oglu explained the OIC efforts to stop violence against Muslim minority in Myanmar.

The OIC also continues efforts with the UN Secretary General in this regard, Oglu concluded.
