Kenya: Mugoiri Schoolgirls Face Attempted Arson Charge

Six more Mugoiri Girls High School students were yesterday charged with attempting to burn a school building worth Sh60,000. Seven other girls from the school were charged on Monday.

Yesterday, one of the students was charged with arson. She allegedly set ablaze a dormitory on Sunday night. The 17-year-old, however, denied the offence before senior principal magistrate Elizabeth Osoro.

He was released on a Sh100,000 bond or a Sh50, 000 cash bail. The other five girls were charged with attempting to burn the school. They were allegedly found with a jerrycan containing diesel and matchboxes. The court heard that the diesel was meant to light up the fire.
