Nigeria: Unicef Equips NAFDAC to Fortify Foods

The United Nation Children Funds (UNICEF) has donated Vitamin A fortification laboratory equipments to the National Agency for Food, Drugs Administration and Control (NAFDAC) to assist it in its duties to fortify food products in the country.

Speaking while making the donation at the NAFDAC headquarters in Abuja Tuesday, the UNICEF's Nutritional Specialist, Dr. Davis Omotola, said the donation was to enable NAFDAC "hasten the turnaround time" in food fortification and ensure quality food for all Nigerians.

Responding, NAFDAC Director-General, Dr. Paul Orhii, said regulation of food items was one of the major mandates of the agency.
