Zambia: FRA Has Not Paid Us, Cry Kabwe Farmers

FARMERS in Central Province who sold their maize to the Food Reserve Agency (FRA) have not yet received their money in full.

However, FRA public relations officer Mwamba Siame said the Agency had deposited money in commercial banks and the process of paying the farmers was underway.

Ms Siame called on the farmers to be patient as the banks were working to ensure that payments were made as soon as possible.

Some farmers expressed disappointment, saying they were promised that they would receive their money in full by October monthend.

Meanwhile, Kabwe District Commissioner Patrick Chishala disclosed that farmers in the district had received farming inputs.

Mr Chishala said the district had received 23, 000x 50kg bags of D Compound and 12, 000x50kg bags of Urea from Nyiombo Investment and 8, 000x50kg bags from Nitrogen Chemicals of Zambia.
