Chahed Elhafed — The Saharawi government has called on the UN Security Council and the international community to "urgently intervene to protect the defenseless Saharawi civilians in the occupied territories of Western Sahara and to ensure their fundamental rights, including freedom of expression and assembly.

In a statement culminating its meeting chaired by the President and SG Polisario Front, Mohamed Abdelaziz, the Council "strongly" condemned the campaign of repression and inhuman practices perpetrated by the Moroccan occupying forces against Sahrawi citizens, especially the defenders of human rights.

President of Republic on yesterday renewed urgent call for the United Nations to protect the Saharawi defenseless civilians from the repression of the Moroccan occupying forces and intervene to prevent further human rights violations in occupied Western Sahara.
