Somalis took to the streets in Mogadishu on Monday (November 5th) to demonstrate in support of the new formation cabinet announced by Prime Minister Abdi Farah Shirdon Said.
The demonstrators who included women and children held their rally on the main street of the city carrying slogans in support of peace. The new Prime Minister had announced the names of his much smaller cabinet on Sunday, limiting the numbers of ministers to ten. The relative peace and security now visible in Mogadishu, and the general stability now returning to Somalia, allow people the opportunity to express their views for the first time in decades. This, in turn, should encourage the international community to strengthen its support to the government in Mogadishu.
