Africa: AMI, Turkey Sign Convention

Dakar — The African Media Initiative (AMI) and Turkey on Thursday (November 7th) signed a convention geared towards more collaboration between the two sides.

The signing ceremony was part of programs of the plenary session of the African Media Leaders Forum (AMLF) which got underway at King Fahd Palace Hotel in Dakar and ran from November 7th to the 9th.

Mr. Bluent Arinc, Turkey’s Vice-Prime minister signing the convention document hailed closer collaboration between AMI and his country.

He said Turkey’s Prime minister had asked him and his delegation to attend the forum due to their strong ties with Africa.

‘’We want to strengthen the relationship between Africa and Turkey and the media has a crucial role in this’’ he added.

Mr. Arinc further said that as part of their cooperation drive, Turkey will explore all possibilities.

He also talked about Turkey’s African Media conference held in last May which he said attracted big participation from media practitioner across the continent.

On the other hand, AMI’s Chief Executive Officer, Amadou Mahtar Ba signed the convention document on behalf of his organization.
