Rwanda's cycling team - Team Rwanda, struggled to come to terms with the sweltering heat in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso as they finished 7th in the Team Time Trial competition of the African Continental Cycling Championship on Wednesday.

Rwanda, which was represented by Adrien Niyonshuti, Abraham Ruhumuriza, Janvier Hadi and Joseph Biziyaremye, finished the 42.4km race in 58 minutes and 30 seconds.

Eritrea, who are chasing for a third consecutive African Continental Cycling Championship title, made their intentions clear after sweeping the race in a time of 51 minutes and 49 seconds. Tunisia and Algeria finished second and third while the host country followed closely in fourth place.

After dominating the last two editions in Asmara (Eritrea) and Kigali, Eritrea's four gold medals from Daniel Teklehaimanot, Natnael Berhane, Frekalsi Debesai and Jani Tewolde on Wednesday, has taken the country's Gold medal tally in the competition to 19.

15 countries are in contention following South Africa's last minute withdraw after misplacing their cycling equipment while in transit at Addis Ababa international airport.
