A come we stay affair that lasts more than six months may be recognised as a marriage and can be registered as such. Christian, Islamic,Hindu as well as marriages consummated under Civil and African Customary law will all be protected.
This is after a cabinet meeting chaired by president Kibaki passed the marriage bill. The cabinet also passed the Campaign Finance Bill, 2012, Special Economic Zones Policy and Bill,Matrimonial Property Bill,and protection against domestic violence bill.
