Uganda: Organisers Tighten Security Ahead of Clash Between Kyambogo and Nkumba

Saturday's University Football League (UFL) faceoff between Kyambogo University and Nkumba University will have extra security from the Military Police. The organisers have made the move following several recent matches that have been abandoned due to crowd trouble.

Ordinarily, only the police have been deployed with little effect and with the ruthless Military Police joining the fray, fans should expect no troubles. Nkumba hosted the initial fixture but it aborted when violence broke out between both sets of fans with the score tied 1-1.

Organisers plan to hold the game at the neutral venue of Kavumba Recreation Grounds. Kyambogo is notorious for rowdy fans and their encounters with Mubs and Makerere also ended in running battles, stone throwing and teargas.
