Ndalatando — The government of the northern Kwanza-Norte province expects to procure 30 new tractors in 2013, meant to support the peasants organised in associations and co-operatives in all municipalities of the province, Angop has learnt.
According to the 2012 figures of the Public Investments Programme (PIP), with these assets, the local government wants to prepare about 7.000 hectares of arable lands, as well as to supply agricultural imputs, such as seeds, fertilisers and working tools.
On his turn, the provincial director of agriculture department, Humberto Mesquita, said that the project foresees for 2012-2013 agricultural season, the preparation of 96,290 hectares of arable lands, whereas 91,290 hectares will be prepared by the peasants.
