Angola: Independence Provides Better Conditions for Peasants - Says Agriculture Minister

Benguela — Angola's Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Afonso Pedro Canga, said on Thursday here that the national independence achieved on 11 November in 1975, is the greatest conquest of the Angolan people, in a time that his sector always kept policies that aimed at providing better living conditions to the peasants.

The official said so to the press at 17 de September airport of the central Benguela province, after his arrival to the region.

The minister underlined that since the proclamation of the independence, the agriculture sector was always the population's sustain and it has been improving over the last years.

Pedro Canga also said that over the last years, the Angolan Executive has invested in the agriculture sector, so as to reach food self-sufficiency.
