Uganda: Police's Okwir to Miss Shooting

Uganda Police's marksman Mathias Okwir will not be with the team as the side takes part in the Inter-Forces Games shooting contest starting today at the Kigo Shooting Range.

With the lack of a dependable shooter, Police's sports publicist David Mutete has asked the team to fully maximize their ammunition and take all shots seriously if they are to better their performance at the event ending tomorrow.

Police has never won the shooting contest in the last four years. According to Mutete, the team has had to do some practice on boards.

"We have asked them to take each shot serious because it counts in the team performance. This is the only way we can improve our performance," he said.

But as the Cops fight for a better finish this year, four-time defending champions UPDF have been on the training ground for the last week and could prove unstoppable.

Others in the battlefield include Prisons, who finished second last year, Uganda Wildlife Authority.

Athletics and ball games are scheduled to start on Monday next week.
