Zambia: Boy, 15, Admits Causing 11-Year-Old's Death

A FIFTEEN-year-old boy yesterday admitted causing the death of an 11-year-old boy as he was reversing a motor vehicle.

The juvenile offender, a Grade 10 pupil, is charged with causing death by dangerous driving on March 24, this year.

It was alleged that on the fateful day, the juvenile offender of Kalulushi was washing his brother's vehicle at a stream when he decided to drive it.

The juvenile offender asked a group of boys to push the vehicle and as it was in motion, the boys got on the trailer but in the process the victim fell off.

The boy, in reversing the vehicle, allegedly ran over the victim's head and he died instantly.

When the charge was read out in court, the juvenile offender said he understood the charge and pleaded guilty before High Court Judge Catherine Makungu.

The juvenile offender was represented by Legal Aid Counsel Ignatius Choongwe.

The matter comes up on November 13 for facts and presentation of a social welfare report.
