Nigeria: Salary Deductions Not Backed by Law - Bauchi Assembly

Bauchi — The Bauchi State House of Assembly has said that the deduction of 10 percent of workers salaries in the state is not backed by the appropriation law as claimed by the government. Chairman, House Committee on Information, Dayyabu Chiroma, stated this yesterday while fielding questions from newsmen in Bauchi.

"The deduction of 10 per cent of workers salaries is an arrangement between the executive and the labour unions. The lawmakers did not make any input in the arrangement. Maybe the state government intends to amend the law to include the deductions, but for now, I can tell you that the House did not make any input," he said.
