Zimbabwe: Mr Zimbabwe Revived

THE premier bodybuilding event on the local calendar, Mr Zimbabwe, which had been off the radar for the past three years, could be revived as a supporting act to the All-Africa Olympia show. The All-Africa Olympia is a new competition that is expected to attract some for the finest bodybuilders from the continent.

Zimbabwe will host the inaugural show at the Harare International Conference Centre on November 17.

Quiet Shangai, who is the one of the co-ordinators from the Zimbabwe Bodybuilding and Fitness Association, said Mr Zimbabwe will be like a supporting act to the bigger contest.

"We have some of our top local athletes expected to enter for the All-Africa Olympia Bodybuilding.

"So far we hope guys like Zumailer (Eusen-Maman), Victor Hungwe, Tarirai Chirume, Isaac 'Sugar' Chimuchenga and Givemore Marume will enter," he said. Victor Kandiyero, Patson Chatedzuka, George Munyoro, Blessing Samaringa and the ageless Innocent Choga could also feature.

"The All-Africa Olympia is attracting some of the finest athletes and so far I know that Vusimusi Njisane of South Africa is coming. I heard that about 13 guys are coming from Botswana and we have two from Cote d' Ivoire.

"Some will come from Nigeria and Zambia," he said.
