RYAN CAIRNS consolidated his lead after the second round of the Harare Open at Chapman yesterday. Cairns, who is in good form, managed to extend his lead by two clear shots going into today's final round. The player carded a two-under-par 70 to take his overall score to six-under.
"I am happy with my game so far and I look forward to keeping the momentum," he said. "I am hitting the ball well and it is summer, which makes the game interesting. I will stay focused and take each shot as it comes and try to maintain some decent scores.
"I have a good feeling and so I will come and try my best.
"The course is wet but playing well so I look forward to the final round," Cairns said. Veteran Day Muyambo was on second place after he scored 71 and 69 for a four-under-par.
Meanwhile, the Harare Mayor's cheer fund teed off yesterday with a large field of above 100 players taking part. The annual event saw Mayor Muchadeyi Masunda taking part when he teed off the first hole around midday.
The event is aimed at raising funds for charitable organisations, which the Mayor supports.
