Tanzania: TFF Lauds Newly Elected Mwanza Soccer Leaders

Mwanza — THE Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) has congratulated the newly elected leadership of Mwanza Football Association (MZFA).

A statement issued by TFF Information Officer, Boniface Wambura said that the TFF believes that Mwanza people have faith in the newly elected leadership, insisting that the new office bearers major task will now be to revamp and develop soccer in the region.

He assured MRFA leadership of the continued federation's support in their endeavour to bring football development in the country. MZFA picked new leadership on Thursday in which, Jackson Songora defended his post as MZFA Chairman.

Songora scooped 17 votes to defeat the former MZFA boss, Jumbe Magati, who managed 15 out of 30 votes casted. The post of Vice-Chairman remained vacant after the only contestant Cosmas Makumba failed to attain 51 per cent that was required, according to TFF rules and regulations.

He only attained 15 votes out of 30, which represents 48 per cent of the total votes cast. The MZFA Secretary General post was retained by Nasib Mabrouk, after scooping 16 votes, while the Treasurer post went to Tito Mahinya, who collected 27 votes out of 30. Domina Kisera is a new member of MZFA Executive Committee and Vedastus Kaluvila was picked as new member of TFF General Meeting, after posting 16 votes to defeat incumbent Samuel Nyalla (11) and Bob Butambala (3).

John Kadutu is a new member, who will represent clubs at TFF. Tanzania football Federation Election Committee Chairman Deogratius Lyatto appealed to the new MZFA team to work hard for the interest of soccer fans and clubs in the region.

He also urged the new leadership to focus on youth soccer development and come up with short, medium and long strategic planning, which he said, will be key to the development of soccer in the region.

He also warned them to shun conflicts. Meanwhile, TFF has said the election of the Tabora Regional Football Association (TAREFA) and that of the Tanzania Football Coaches Association (TAFCA) will now be held on December 22, this year.
