Egypt Urges Syrian Opposition to Set Up Unified Front

Foreign Minister Mohamed Kamel Amr said the Syrian opposition is in a dire need to set up a unified front to represent it inside and outside the country, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Amr Roshdi said in statements on Thursday 08/11/2012.

During his meeting in Qatar with Syrian National Council (SNC) chief Abdel-Basset Seda, opposition leader Burhan Ghalioun and several SNC members, Amr expressed hope that the Syrian opposition conference in Doha would culminate in forming a united Syrian opposition, the spokesman added.

Amr said that Egypt would spare no efforts to stop bloodletting in Syria, the spokesman said.

Egypt will also continue to offer humanitarian aid to the Syrian people in the coming period, Amr said, noting that donation campaigns for the conflict-hit Syrians have been launched.
