Kenya: Mbeere Girl Caught With Petrol Cash

A Form two girl at Mayori Mixed Boarding Secondary School in Mbeere South was yesterday arrested with Sh700 she was to buy petrol with.

The girl confessed that the money was raised by students to buy the petrol which they were to use to burn down their school.

Mbeere South police boss Bernstein Shari said the school's administration got hold of the girl at 3.00am after they discovered that the students were planning a strike to push for the closure of the school.

Shari said after the girl, who is detained at the Kitiri police station, revealed that she was keeping the money on behalf of the strike organisers.

He said the school suspended the girl and handed her over to them as she waits for her parents to pick her up. Meanwhile, Shari said the police were called to prevent male students of Genge Mixed Secondary School from harming their female colleagues.
