Kenya: Malaba Nurse Found Dead in Her House

A nurse from Malaba who went missing from Sunday was yesterday found dead in her house. Eunice Atyang', 27, was an employee of Apex Clinic. She had been off duty.

A colleague Claire Manya said when Atyang' failed to report on duty on Wednesday, it raised suspicion. She tried calling her phone but it was unanswered.

"I informed my boss Simon Lilechi who reported the matter to the police in the company of the nurse's father," Manya said.

Deputy Police boss Francis Wahome said the officers broke her door and found her dead on sofa. Wahome said no suicide note was found.

Jefta Oradu her father said Atyang had been epileptic since childhood, but had not shown any signs of hill health. The postmortem examination will be carried out to confirm whether there was any foul play.

Manya said Atyang's had worked diligently since she was employed in September last year but they had no knowledge about her epileptic status. The body was moved to Tanaka Hospital in Busia to await postmortem examination and burial arrangements.
