Nigeria: Resume Work or Face Consequences, Jang Threatens Workers

Plateau State government has ordered its striking local government workers to resume their duty posts on Monday next week or face its wrath. It however did not specify what consequences failure to adhere to the order will draw, but said appropriate action would be taken.

The workers had demanded for the implementation of the N18,000 Minimum Wage in January 2012, which the state government reneged on, saying the councils do not have the capacity to pay, owing to the poor Federal Revenue Allocation accrued to them.

The two then agreed, after negotiation, to settle on 50% of the wage pending when the allocation improves.
