South Africa: Deputy President Chairs HRDCSA

Pretoria — The 9th seating of the Human Resource Development Council of South Africa (HRDCSA) chaired by Deputy President Kgalema Motlanthe was held on Friday at the Sefako Mapogo Makgatho Presidential Guest House.

Amongst other issues discussed, this meeting was for the Secretariat of the HRDC to present a draft National Integrated HRD Plan to the members;

The Council decided that:

 The Secretariat has to produce the Matrix outlining responsibilities of the implementers in terms of programmes outlined.

 Monitoring and Evaluation of the work of Council must be added to the Plan.

 There must be focus on teacher-training (to look into an establishment of a national accord of social partners).

 Council must consider a special meeting to discuss census 2011 implications for human resource development in the country.

 The Department of Public Service and Administration needs to address Council on what is being done to capacitate the public service and work in partnership with Department of higher Education and Training, Public Services Seta, Public Service Commission and Public Administration Leadership and Management Academy (Palama).
