Angola: National Defence Guarantees Preservation of Democratic Lawful State

Luanda — State attorney general, João Maria Moreira de Sousa, on Friday here defended that national defence is responsible for the preservation and continuity of the democratic lawful state in force in Angola.

João Maria Moreira de Sousa said so during a workshop under the theme "The role, place and mission of the Ministry of National Defence in the Angolan Democratic Process", part of the events commemorating the 37th founding anniversary of the Ministry of National Defence.

"The Defence Ministry, not only guarantees sovereignty, but also safeguards the national independence, as well as the territorial integrity and the constitutional powers", he asserted.

He recalled that since the proclamation of the national independence, on 11 November 1975, by President António Agostinho Neto, the Republic of Angola always affirmed itself as a sovereign state.
