Nigeria: Gunmen Kill Three Policemen in Yobe

Damaturu — Some armed men suspected to Boko Haram members Thursday morning killed three policemen Gujba local government area of Yobe State.

The assailants also burnt down a police station, three churches and the Central Primary School in Buni Yadi, the headquarters of the local government .

JTF spokesman, Lieutenant Eli Lazarus, said in a statement made available to newsmen said "in the early hours of that day the gun men attacked police station at Buni Yadi, killed three police men and some arms carted away, three churches were also torched by fire," adding that "JTF responded swiftly to a distress call and beefed up security in the town to forestall further attacks"

Residents in the town told Weekly Trust that the attackers stormed the town around 2:45am and started shooting accompanied by some explosions that lasted for over three hours.

"In the morning we discovered that two churches were set ablaze," a resident said.

Many residents have been fleeing their homes to neighbouring villages and towns because of the incident.
