Sudan: Fire Destroys 45 Homes in El-Neem

El-Neem Camp — A huge fire on Saturday November 10 in El-Neem IDP camp in El-Daein, East Darfur, reportedly destroyed 45 homes, sources told Radio Dabanga.

Witnesses told Radio Dabanga that the fire spread to the camp's primary school, explaining that the fire was caused by a neglegted fire in one of the camps' homes.

One of the witnesses added that the families, whose homes were destroyed, are still staying in the open.

Camp residents appealed to international organizations and state authorities to intervene immediately and provide aid for those affected.

Reduction in food rations

On the other hand, El-Neem camp residents complained about the reduction of the monthly food rations, distributed by the World Food Programme (WFP).

The camp residents claim that WFP states that the number of displaced persons in the camp has reduced with 75%. They requested WFP to discuss the statement made as well as the situation in the camp.
