Saraf Omra — Residents from Saraf Omra locality in North Darfur have complained to Radio Dabanga about the increased mortality rate caused by the spread of diseases on Friday November 9.

The residents claim that diseases such as measles, jaundice, cough, diarrhea and malaria are spreading rapidly in the region, adding that around two to three people pass away every week as a result of the diseases.

Additionally, they complained about the scarcity of medicine and its high prices along with the lack of available health care facilities. It was added that the price of cough medicine has been increased from 10 Sudanese Pounds (SDG) up to 30 SDG, forcing local residents to resort to traditional health care.

The residents appealed to the state and local authorities, as well as humanitarian organizations to pay attention to the deteriorating health conditions and take the necessary action, they added to Radio Dabanga.
