West Africa: Ecowas Submits Sco to UN Nov. 15

Heads of States and Government of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) have reached a consensus to submit their recommendations, as contained in the Strategic Concept of Operations (SCO), requiring military intervention to end the spate of terrorism and political crises that has enveloped Guinea Bissau and Mali.

This is as President Goodluck Jonathan, again reiterated his administration's support and commitment to this option, stating that it is necessary to support the deployment of an intervention force to Mali in order to restore order in the country.

This decision was the outcome of the extra-ordinary session of the ECOWAS authority of Heads of State and government who met at the Transcorp Hilton Abuja Sunday.
