Yola — The registration of Adamawa State civil servants for the Health Insurance Scheme would commence early next year. Executive Secretary Adamawa State Health Insurance (ASHIS), Alhaji Sale Shelleng disclosed this at the NHIS stakeholders' workshop in Yola recently.

Shelleng said necessary arrangements towards the commencement of the program have already been concluded. "The law of health insurance has been signed in June and it was gazetted on 21st July, 2012 and discussions with major stakeholders are ongoing," Shelleng said.

Also the North East Zone Coordinator of National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), Alhaji Ma'aji Abdu has commended states government in the zone for their commitment to key into the health insurance program.

Abdu who made the commendation in Yola in an interview with newsmen said Bauchi State government has commenced the health insurance program while Adamawa has passed a law which was gazette.
