Abeokuta — Ogun State government on Sunday disclosed that it had earmarked N10 billion as compensation for the owners of houses and shops to be demolished for the construction of roads across the state.

The state governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun who monitored the demolition exercise promised to pay adequate compensation for the loss of property.

Addressing the property owners at Panseke area of the town, Governor Amosun who was flanked by other top government officials in the state said he was elated at the level of compliance by the people.

He added that the government will also extend helping hands to shop owners to assist theme relocate to other areas.

"The compensation, to be paid all over the state is in excess of N10 billion, but it depends on the house and how the demolition affects it because, it is only the fence that was affected in some places.

"The government will build modern shopping malls across the places affected and those affected by the demolition will be the first to benefit upon completion.
