Namibia: Alleged Satanist Arrested At Reho

AN ALLEGED Satanist who was caught defacing a tombstone at Rehoboth was arrested on Thursday.

Elize Britz (18) appeared in the Rehoboth Magistrate’s Court on a charge of malicious damage to property on Friday.

According to a police officer at the town, Britz, who allegedly claims to be the leader of a Satanist group, wrote “Satan is koning en God bestaan nie (Satan is king and God does not exist)” on a tombstone.

So far, only Britz has been arrested.

It is understood that the group takes pictures of the graves they vandalise and post them on social media websites.

Magistrate Leopold Hangalo postponed the matter until December 14 for further police investigations to be done.

Britz indicated that she wants to apply for legal assistance through the Directorate of Legal Aid.

She was released on bail of N$500.

Public Prosecutor Fatima Mendonza represented the State during Friday’s proceedings.

More charges are expected to be added to the charge sheet.
