Gambia: Alleged Cannabis Dealer in Court

One Ebrima Jasseh, a native of Kunkujang Village in the West Coast Region was on Wednesday 7th November 2012 appeared at the Brikama Magistrates' Court before Principal Magistrate Hilary Abeke. The accused is charged with the offence of being in possession of prohibited drugs, contrary to the Drug Control Act, Laws of The Gambia.

The particulars of offence revealed that on or about 6th June 2012 at Kunkujang Village, the accused was in possession of 420 grams of cannabis sativa, a prohibited drug, thereby committed an offence. When the charge was read to the accused person, he pleaded not guilty.

The NDEA prosecutor NCA3 M. Jallow applied for an adjournment to enable him call his witness in court. The accused was granted bail in the sum of D3000,000 with 2 Gambian sureties.

The case was adjourned to 10th November 2012.
