South Africa: Minister Baloyi to Visit Ventersdorp Local Municipality - North West Province

The Honourable Minister for Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (CoGTA), Mr Richard Baloyi, will be visiting North West Province as part of his commitment to take CoGTA Portfolio to the people. This is further part of the Minister's annual commitment to engage directly with the people at a local sphere of government. The visits are based on thematic areas that are aligned to the priority areas of the Local Government Turnaround Strategy adopted by Cabinet during 2009.

The priorities are:

Enhancing service delivery

Ensuring good governance

Infrastructure development, and

Sound financial management and

Fighting corruption.

The Minister's visit to the North West will also focus on challenges faced by Ventersdorp Local Municipality (VLM) through engaging both the Provincial, Local Leadership of Communities within the municipality on various governance related issues. The visit will take place within the next two weeks and communities within Ventersdorp are advised to provide the Ministry with any information that may assist in establishing facts that may contribute to resolving governance challenges within the Municipality.
