ROADS and Paving (ROADPAVE) Zambia Limited civil engineer Juran Bhowmik has said his company will wrap up works on the K11.5 billion Kafue weighbridge by early next week.
The company has revisited most of the areas as instructed by the Road Development Agency (RDA) last month.
ROADPAVE is one of the companies sub-contracted to work on the Kafue weighbridge.
Mr Bhowmik said in an interview that the firm was almost winding up works as the only part remaining was that of planting grass and putting a boundary fence around the area.
"Our job here is almost finished. What has remained is just planting grass and putting a boundary fence, the job we will finish in the next three to four days," he said.
Last month, RDA board chairperson Willie Nsanda and the agency's acting chief executive officer Bernard Chiwala and other officials visited the weighbridge.
Mr Nsanda observed at the time that the sub-contractor had not done the works according to expected standards and cited stone pitching as not being 100 per cent done and the drainages of being incorrect.
The weigh bridge was expected to be commissioned on November 15, 2012.
Mr Chiwala said the weighbridge was vital as it would greatly help in decongesting the weighbridge in Kapiri Mposhi.
