Somalia: Hundreds Rally in Mogadishu

Mogadishu — Hundreds of people on Monday held a big rally in Mogadishu to protest against the governor of Benadir region Mohamed Ahmed Nur Tarsan.

According to Salad Ulusow Sodal, a businessman the protestors carried banners and placards with slogans marched in streets of the city criticizing Mr. Nur of selling the bazaar of Hamarweyn and calling for an end to the matter.

He added the rally, which was very massive, was organized by the civil society organizations and some businessmen in Mogadishu.

Protestors say that they put forward their complaint to the former TFG officials and nothing has been done so far.

Somalia has not had a strong central government for the past two decades when chaos and violence raged triggering piracy and Islamist militancy in the country.
