Nigeria: Village Head to Sanction Parents for Refusal to Send Wards to School

Mr Dauda Danbaki, the village head of Hayin-Gada in Goska District of Nikyop Chiefdom, says he will sanction parents who refuse to send their wards to school.

Danbaki made this known in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Gidan-Biyu, Jema'a Local Government Area of Kaduna on Monday.

He identified education as the bedrock of development of any society and enjoined parents and guardians to play the role of stakeholders in ensuring the education of their wards.

Danbaki noted that the government was working hard to ensure that public schools were brought closer to rural communities to encourage education.

He, however, said poverty in any part of the world was responsible to under-development, adding: "with education comes enlightenment and development."
