Cameroon Gets Bronze in Female Afcon

After failing to clinch the continental title for an umpteenth time, the Indomitable Lionesses had to cut short their ambition by vying for the third position in the 8th edition of the Feminine Africa Cup of Nations in Equatorial Guinea in order to save their honour.

The Lionesses did just the essential beating Nigeria 1-0 in the classification match on Sunday Novembder 11 in Malabo. The salvation goal came at the 27th minute through Enganamout who hammered in a volley just outside the box after received a good pass from Akaba who orchestrated the counter offensive.

Though Cameroon scored early, they able to hold on to the Nigerian onslaught dominating them in the mid field and forcing the Nigerians to proceed by long balls up front which proved futile. The victory is somehow special in that it is achieved against Nigeria who have always been a stumbling block to Cameroon on the continent.

More so, Nigeria defeated Cameroon in the group stage 2-1. Hence the victory also smacks of vengeance for the Lionesses.
