Windhoek — Namibia's promising young golfers Glen de Waal and Jessica Dreesbeimdieke came out tops in the Klipdrift Gold Cup last weekend.
The 48th edition of the annual Gold Cup was held at the Windhoek Country Club and was sponsored by Distell Namibia for the 10th consecutive year - and was played over 54 holes for the men's A and B divisions and 36 holes for the men's C division and women.
The course was playing long from the back tees and proved a real challenge for all golfers. In the men's A division, P. Ndeilenga (224c/o) came out tops, while Charl du Preez (224) ended second.
The B division for men was won by J. Martin (237), while S. Matheus (244) took the runner-up spot. Phillip Lifo obtained the best gross in the division for men on 168 and was followed by Joe Absai who obtained a score of 178.
In the women's division, Celonika Robinson triumphed with a net score of 141. During the prize-giving ceremony the Distell representative Andy Fallis confirmed that the brand Klipdrift will once again sponsor the Gold Cup next year.
