Rwanda: Karate Name Team for World Championships

RWANDA Karate Federation has named five players for the upcoming World Championships slated for 21-25 November in Paris, France.

A provisional 12-man team started preparations last month from which five, including one girl, have been selected to represent the country. They include; Silvestre Twajamahoro, Eric Karigire, Vincent Munyeshyaka, Sibomana Haruna and Rehema Kabera, the female member on the team.

Rwanda Karate Federation Technical Director, Guy Rurangayire, said, "We have started training early with many players and we have chosen the best five players who will compete in the World Championships."

"Players are in good shape and there are no injuries in team which is good. they have been doing well in training and we hope to represent our country well," he said.

The team is training at Amahoro national stadium and will travel in two batches, the first on 17th and the other on 19th.

Rwanda won two bronze medals in the Africa Championships held in Morocco in September.

Rehema Kabera won kumite bronze medal in women category, while Silvestre Twajemahoro secured kata bronze medal in men's category.
