WITH most of the Kenya National Rally Championship titles already sealed, the 33rd KCB Guru Nanak Rally promises to be a thrilling action- packed affair on the Kedong and Suswa terrain on November 18. The season closing event has attracted over 70 drivers who will be fighting it out for honours in various categories.

The Two Wheel Drive Class is expected to feature 15 drivers among them Niaz Bashir from Kisumu, Dennis Mwenda from Nairobi, Mombasa-based Victor Okundi, Phyllis Wambui on her second outing in the Toyota Levin, youngster Jeff Mburu also in a Levin and the all-female crew of Caroline Gatimu and Linet Ayuko in a VW Golf GTi.

Classic Car Cup has so far attracted four entrants in Aslam Khan (Porsche 911), Samira Khan (Ford Escort), Rommy Bhamra (Datsun 240Z) and Hardev Singh Sira (Ford Escort Mexico). The fourssome are preparing for the 2013 East African Safari Classic Rally.

Group "N" Class has 28 entrants including 2010 Champion Alastair Cavenagh, 2011 champion Ian Duncan, veteran three times champion Azar Anwar and newly-crowned champion Carl "Flash" Tundo who, for the first time, will partner-up with his sister Natasha Di Cangio. Jaswinder Chana and his brother Ravi Chana lead the charge in Group "S" class battle which brings together 18 entrants.

Fans attending the Guru Nanak have a bonus of sorts as they will bear witness to the Specially Prepared Vehicle (SPV) Rally Raid cars entered by Adin Haq (Range Rover Bowler) and Nish Lakhani/Teeku Patel (Land Rover hybrid).

Event Director Dali Kalsi has set up a technical route in the territory synonymous with sentimental days of WRC Safari Rally. This year's Guru Nanak will feature seven competitive stages. CS1 will be a 33kilometer stage preceding the 57 kilometre "endurance-test" section which Dali has describes as "rough and rocky".
