Lawmakers in Somalia's new parliament yesterday (November 13th) approved all ten ministers named by Prime Minister Abdi Farah Shirdon by an overwhelming majority.
Members of the Parliament "endorsed the new cabinet with a majority vote, 219 members out of the 225 who attended the session gave the 'yes' vote", said Parliament speaker Mohamed Osman Jawari.
The new cabinet, whose members were announced at the beginning of last week, is the smallest in the country's history, and includes two women, one of whom, Fowsiya Yusuf Haji Adan, is Somalia's first ever female Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister.
Prime Minister Abdi Farah Shirdon was appointed early last month by President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, who was himself elected President by Parliament in September.
