The Police and Yes We Can Alliance (YWC) have launched a road safety campaign for the festive season. The commissioner of traffic Police, Steven Kasiima, presided over the launch at Kampala Central Police Station on Monday.

He said the campaign would go a long way in curbing road accidents. "Accidents don't discriminate. They affect everybody irrespective of the background," Kasiima said.

He lauded YWC for the initiative, adding that preventing accidents was not only for the Police, but everyone.

Under the campaign, over 30,000 stickers will be distributed to remind passengers of the need to report cases of reckless driving to the Police. Bodaboda cyclists will also be given reflector jackets. The executive director of YWC, Dr. Fred Mpangi, noted that Uganda was second to Ethiopia in the number of road accidents.
