Zimbabwe: Hubby Loses Tooth in Fight Over Pot

A 54-YEAR-OLD Chitungwiza man lost his tooth after his wife struck him with an empty bottle at the height of a domestic altercation. Apronia Bhunya (37) had complained to her husband Shepherd Daka that police patrols in Epworth were making her business of selling sadza difficult. Agreed facts were that on November 8, Daka instructed his wife to bring back home a pot she was using in her sadza-selling business venture in Epworth.

She came home at around 7pm and Daka demanded to see the pot.

This led to a misunderstanding between the two.

Bhunya reportedly took an empty bottle and struck him on the mouth.

Daka lost a tooth as a result.

Irked by his wife's action, Daka punched her and she sustained bruises on her lip and a swollen eye.

Bhunya later reported the matter to the police leading to his arrest.

Daka admitted to assault charges when he appeared before Chitungwiza magistrate Ms Barbara Chimboza.

Ms Chimboza fined him US$20 for the offence.

In mitigation, Daka told the court that he assaulted his wife after he lost his tooth.

Ms Chimboza then gave him a lighter sentence.

Mr Aaron Machaka prosecuted.
