Rwanda: Mbarushimana Set for Sunrise Talks

Two months after throwing in the towel as Rayon Sport assistant coach, Abdul Mbarushimana is on the verge of agreeing a head coaching contract at second division side Sunrise.

The Eastern province side, which is drawn in Pool A, has set its sights at playing in the top flight next season and believes Mbarushimana is the right man to help them realize this dream.

Mbarushimana quit his assistant coaching position after Rayon's dreadful start in the Primus League. The blues were touted as one of the league favourites following their triumph in the Agaciro Development Fund' tournament but failed to replicate this form as they lost their opening three matches; 1-2 against Amagaju, 1-3 against AS Kigali and 0-1 against La Jeunesse; their worst start in the club's history.

Sunrise is drawn in Pool A alongside nine other clubs and needs to finish in the top two to qualify for the play-offs.

Pool B features nine clubs including Esperance, Interforce, United Stars and Akagera.
