Kumasi — THE ASHANTI Regional branch of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has cautioned that if the security in the Ashanti Region cannot guarantee their safety from the harassment and intimidation at the hands of the New Patriotic party in Ashanti, they would in their own way resist any kind of intimidation that might be meted out to their members.
The NDC made this comment, following the inability of the Police to arrest one Godson Odoi, who had physically attacked an NDC Communication team member on the Kessben FM political show, "Democracy" hosted by Akuako Kwarteng, a presenter at the station.
Addressing the media at a Press Conference in Kumasi, the Ashanti regional Secretary of the NDC, Mr. Joseph Yammin expressed concern over how some political programmes at some radio stations in Ashanti are paneled.
According to him, Kessben FM is one of the radio stations that is bent on ensuring that the NPP members on their political programmes outnumber NDC members.
On a programme held last week Saturday, according Mr. Yammin, NPP had three members and one NDC member in the person of Mr. Fusheini Donkor, who was subjected to physical attack by his NPP opponent Mr. Odoi.
The Ashanti Regional scribe of the NDC disclosed that they have since reported the incident to Striking Force Unit of the Ashanti regional Police Command, but no arrest has been made, while Godson Donkor is walking a free man on the streets of Kumasi.
Mr. Yammin could not understand why the media and the police are saying Mr. Odoi cannot be traced and cautioned that it would be prudent for police to arrest Mr. Odoi to restore the trust of the NDC in the police.
Mr. Donkor is said to have had a tough time with Mr. Odoi of the NPP, who landed several punches on the NDC communication man at the Kessben FM studios, and later fled as a result of which Mr. Donkor's neck is now bandaged.
Mr. Yammin also criticized the NPP Presidential Candidate, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo on his Thanks giving prayer service held in Kumasi over the weekend.
According to Hon. Yammin, Nana Akufo Addo and his NPP were mocking God because whenever they are in opposition they remember the Lord the Creator, but when they were in government they intend to forget Him.
He, therefore, urged Ghanaians to vote against Nana Addo and his NPP in order to continue to remember the Lord, because every creature needs to know his creator.
