Nigeria: Ribadu Report - Focus On Substance, Agbakoba Tells FG

A member of the Nuhu Ribadu-led Petroleum Revenue Task Force, Mr Olisa Agbakoba (SAN), has called on the Federal Government to focus on the substance of the committee's report and implement it.

Agbakoba, who is also a constitutional lawyer, made the call Monday in a news statement in Lagos. He said that Nigerians needed action and not distractions on the implementation of the report.

"Let's focus on substance. We need action and not distraction," he said.He said that the report recorded sufficient credible information for a robust review of activities in the Oil and Gas Industry.

"We should focus on substance and I request government to take urgent steps to implement the report, subject to any further action that may be necessary.

"I recommend President Jonathan's approach on how to proceed with this matter when he noted that there were errors of calculation or misinformation in the report, that will be filtered out and corrected," he added.

Agbakoba expressed disappointment over the negative impact the report was generating in the media.
