Ghana: Joe Ghartey Launches Re-Election Bid

Mr. Joe Ghartey, Member of Parliament (MP) for Essikado-Ketan on Sunday launched his re-election bid to represent the area on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) amid music and fanfare.

Speaking at the function, Papa Owusu Ankomah, MP for Sekondi, said the NPP is poised to win the December 7 General Election. He said support for the party is growing as the election approaches and asked the people to translate their interest in the NPP into votes.

Mr. Kwesi Biney, Western Regional first Vice Chairman of the NPP said the party is serious about implementing free Senior High School education when voted into power.He said there is no reason why the NPP cannot implement free SHS education if the country has been able to implement National Health Insurance Scheme.

Mr. Biney said the NPP is pushing for free SHS education so that more people could pursue higher education and technological skills training.
