Tunisia: Students, Salafists Clash At Monastir University

Members of the General Union of Tunisian Students (UGET) on Monday (November 12th) clashed with salafists at the Faculty of Science in Monastir, Tunisie Numerique reported. The salafists blocked the entrance to the canteen and demanded that the university establish separate dining rooms for female and male students.

This year, Manouba University in Tunis has been the scene of clashes between salafists and other students over the niqab ban. The trial of dean Habib Kazdaghli over the issue will resume on November 15th. According to him, his case "is a pretext to advance another agenda, of separating girls and boys at university".
